We Love Our Littlest Customers

One of the most enjoyable parts about my job at KUTOA is getting to perform store demonstrations and introduce the products to new customers. It’s always exciting to be able to connect with other people who believe in our mission, and are fans of the bars. While I enjoy interacting with all of our customers, I especially love seeing the reactions from kids that try our bars for the first time.  Kids can be tough critics, and aren't afraid to voice their opinion about whether or not they like the product.  However, if there is one thing that kids are better at than being honest, it’s being persuasive, and this has definitely worked to our advantage on more than one occasion!

I've discovered it’s a fairly common occurrence to have a child run up to table and try the bars, only to return a few minutes later with their parents in tow, insisting that they try them as well. Recently I was promoting KUTOA at one of our local, Austin stores when a trio of siblings approached the table. The two older ones had no problem selecting their bar flavors and gave a glowing review. However, the youngest one just stood there with his arms crossed, refusing to try any of the samples that his brother and sister kept shoving in his face. Eventually their mom emerged from another aisle, and bought a bar for each of the older kids, explaining that her youngest son was an incredibly picky eater, and rarely tried anything new.  After she sampled the bars herself, she gave it one last shot with her son. He reluctantly agreed, and was soon begging her for more! The family walked away with half a box, and assured me that they would continue to purchase the bars in the future!

While those children were able to be verbally persuasive, sometimes younger children have had to rely on other tactics to get their hands on the bars.  During another recent demo, an adorable little girl around two, fell in love with our Chocolate Banana bars, and decided that she absolutely needed them.  Her mother agreed that the bars were very tasty, however she remained focused on her shopping list and told her daughter that perhaps they could purchase them on another occasion.  Well let’s just say this little girl was not willing to wait to receive her KUTOA bar, so proceeded to lie down in front of the table, kicking her feet and screaming until her mom caved in a bought a few bars. While I definitely don’t condone throwing a temper tantrum to get what you want, I did see the little girl’s point. The bars are really that good!

As amusing as it is to see the reaction from the kids, my favorite part is being able to share with both the children and their parents, the one for one mission behind KUTOA. We love the idea of kids helping kids!  Parents can feel good about their decision to purchase a healthy snack for their own child, while also helping bring nutrition to a child in need. We are so appreciative of all our customers, and are thrilled to make products that are both parent and kid approved!
